That sure beats the heck out of laying on your back doing that. That body looks to be in geat shape.

Got a lot done today pretty much got the bottom cleaned. The torque box is near perfect and the step wells appear to be made of galvanized metal. Other than the floor pans the truck is really nice. While Rod was cleaning the bottom I started welding in the floor pans and fitting the transmission cover.

i wonder if the 63's had some kind of galvanized metal for the steps? i parted out and scrapped a 63 uni that appeared to have galv steps.... they were some of the best parts on the truck and about the only thing not rusted through. truck came from new york so you can imagine the rust issues.

I bought a set of NOS steps and rockers for my uni and both pieces were galvanized.I am not real sure but I think Ford did this quite often.I can remember some of the past trucks I have owned and or seen that were this way.

Got a bit more done to the floorboards. Started making patterns for the cab supports. I'm using a members diamentions and finding that I need to make a few adjustments for this application. None the less they are going to work out really good.

Image

drivers side cab support pattern. I'm using poster board to check fit the support before I cut them out of 14 guage metal and weld them together and tack them in. Next we will bring the frame to the shop and set the body down on it to make sure every thing fits like it should and locate the holes in the support assembly.

Image

We will locate the engine and transmission and fab the mounts while the frame is here.

Got the passenger side cab mount fabricated and temporarly installed. here are some more pictures. Used the Plasma cutter to cut out the pieces. It is made of 14 gauge so without a brake I had to cut reliefs along the bend lines to be able to make good bends. I'll turn the truck over tomorrow and begin the same process on the drivers side. Won't be long now and we can bring the frame to the shop and begin the fit up and engine and transmission install.

Made a little more progress today. Got the final pattern made for the drivers side cab support and the pieces cut out, de-burred and bend lines slotted. I'll bend them and tack everything together tomorrow. As soon as Rob gets in off of this run we will bring the frame up and begin fitting it all together.

Ok I got the passenger side tacked up and tacked in place. Need to do a couple of minor things and then we can bring the frame up and put them together and see what happens.

We're ready to bring the frame in but it is about 15 miles away at Rob's house and it is raining so I don't want to get it wet with wet road crud that makes a mess to clean up. So sometime in the next day or 2 we'll get it here and the body on it.

Ok got some more done today. The frame and body are joined for now. Looks like its all going to fit like its supposed to. The new cab supports fit good so all is good. We are going to hang the core support and fenders so I can check the inner fenders and do the cutouts for the upper control arms.

Well it's been a while but we got some more done to the truck. Inner fenders trimmed and cab supports drilled. Every thing is lining up real good. Painted the transmission so we can marry it up to the engine and begin setting that up. Probably start that tomorrow. After that its time to mock up the steering colum and brake pedal assembly.
Here's a couple of pictures.

that was from putting a high volume oil pump in a stock pan and a so called mechanic with 35+ yrs experience :cussing: :?: didnt catch..should have seen a leak on the dyno, small but noticable, and no QC at all.but one phone call and they made it right..gave me a chance to open the motor up and check things out.makes you wonder sometimes more quantity then quality.next build will tackle motor myself
