Hey, my name's Matt and I'm from a little city called Yucaipa in the hills of California. Just bought a 1966 F100 Styleside long bed from a guy in Big Bear for $950 running. Found his add on a chopper forum I'm on and set the deal. Here';s a little info on the truck and a link to the old eBay feeler ad he had up.

1966 Ford F100 long bed. Two wheel drive, twin I beam , 300 cubic inch straight 6, cruise-o-matic three speed auto, 8" rear end, 8 foot bed (129 inch Wheel base). This was a California built truck made at the San Jose plant in October of 1965, and sold to the Los Angeles District Sales Office.

Here's pics that are on the old eBay ad.. I'll try to get my own pics soon. Oh, fair warning, I'll probably be asking lots of questions.

Welcome to the site from NW Ohio. This is the place to get your questions answered. There's a lot of knowledge on this site. That's a nice truck to start with.

Thanks! It was the sketchiest drive home when I got it. Drove it 65 miles down through twisty mountain roads at night through a cloud bank on old bias ply tires with no power steering and manual drum brakes with my wife following behind me. I did 55 most of the way(A little over speed limit), and she said a few times I swerved like a drunk( There's a little play in the steering). So I need to button a few things up, but all in all, I love it. This is my fourth classic Ford project. The other were as follows, in order from first to last: 1962 Mercury Monterey coupe, 1974 F250, and the most recent before the truck was a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door box top. Since I only really drive local, this will get normal things done to keep it running and dependable, but after my bike is done, the major stuff is going to happen. I plan on finding a Crown Vic front clip to swap in, c-notch the rear, disc all around and air ride. Then channel the body and bed. I love the long, low ground scraping stance, especially on a vehicle with a slab side style.

I have seen Hales truck at the Nostalgia Drags in Dallas. That is a sweet and very fast truck, I have a soft spot for long bed 66 trucks (Rattle Can).

So, first things first, can anyone recommend good sites to order parts from such as 300 straight six performance parts and all around body parts?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this year, because my wiring is a rats nest, and even though everything works, I would love to rewire this thing.

Duke, it's a California truck that never left California, and the fact that it has under 50k original miles. For some reason, only one vehicle I ever owned needed major body work, and that was a '62 Mercury Monterey

What other transmission options do I have with the original 300 that I'm going to keep running?

Welome to the site,
sounds like you haver a love of restoring/ rebuilding that which is old.
Start searching for original or duplicates of the ford shop manuals, they make them on cd, but if you are patient you will find a good deal on a bound set.
One trans option is to put in a t-5 out of a mustang, more modern trans with O.D. for fuel mileage.. lots of info out there.
