Original Split Rims for 65' F100
I just recently purchase from a junk yard by my home a set of 5 split rims (size 15 x 7) off a 62' F100. I want to put them on mine 65' after I sand blast and power coat them but I don't know how to disassemble them. Also my second question is the tires for these rims are tube type 6-ply. Where do I get replacement ones from? If anybody could help with some info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Ryan
You are in Whittier Ca., is there a Les Schawb tire down there close? Up here in Oregon they are the one's to see about truck tires. Or look for a place that deals with truck tires. Most places don't deal with split rims anymore, they can be very dangerous.

There are 16" solid rims available for F100's, my '65 had a set on it when I first got it.

You cant find a shop that will touch those in Ontario anymore. They are very dangerous, and not just while working on them. The retainer ring will sometimes come out while cornering or if the tire is soft and can imbed itself in the side of the car in the next lane.
I actually think they have been outlawed
Every tire place I ever worked when I was young had a horror story about split rims.
I saw the hole in the ceiling that was left by the exploding rim of one tire, it killed the guy on the way up.
So why do you want to use split rims?

Original Split Rims for 65' F100
There's a place in Stockton (Stockton Wheel) that I brought the original set of 3/4 ton split rims from my 65 F-250. I had them converted to one-piece rims... they disassembled them and welded the inners into new 16" outers. The purpose of retaining the wheel inners is to keep the inner-pointing hubcap pins so I can use the original hubcaps without having split rims. They came out great.

I took mine apart by deflating tire and breaking bead, using wire wheel to clean as much rust from around the ring and groove as i could, then you spin it till the ring seems loose and there is a little knotch cut out in the ring that you can put a big pry stick in and pry it over the lip of the main part of the ring. this was on a big 16" 1 piece ring inny rim for my 60 f-250. I did find local agricultural tire shop who would work on it but i didnt bring it there till i sandblasted and painted the pieces. Just be really careful, the split rims can be very dangerous if you dont know what your doing
