Looking good Chelle!
There were also probably some reports of some Sheila getting very vocal when she lost two 3/8 wrenches by dropping them into a narrow void between two pieces of sheet metal in the side of the cab roof. I was trying to get a wrench on a nut the held the right side cab light on. It is a very narrow space and you can hardly get a wrench in there, it is right in the curve of the cab roof. I fumbled the wrench and it slid right down into the void, I grabbed a second one and the same thing happened. I couldn't reach them with a magnet. So in my vocal triade I decided to get a drill and a hole saw and cut a hole in the inner roof and retrive them which I did. The hole will be covered by the headliner anyway. Since I had the hole saw I decided to also cut another hole directly beneath the offending nut, which I did making the job easier.

The rest of the exterior painting will be done in the shop. The truck is too large to get into my portable paint booth,so I will move all the other cars and trucks out of the garage and sweep and wet the floors down and paint it in there by its self.

New pictures to add. I finally got the red on it. Now the part I like the best, putting it all back together with new or reconditioned parts. To me that is the most fun part of any rebuild.

I have been quite for the past week but not because I don't love you guys, I have been busy putting my truck back together. I spent Monday in Houston gathering parts and Tuesday and Wednesday working full days. It seems that they come apart a lot faster than they go back to gether.

Image

I am going back to Houston after I get it back together to get the overhead rand and an oil leak repaired. While I am there I am getting the tanks and the wheels polished.

Image

I got the passenger door completed.

Image

The floor is very well insulated with Dynamat, the factory original fiberglass/tar based sound proofing, insulation, carpet jute and the carpeting.

Image

I have all the trim back on the front, I still have to install my other three fog and running lights.

I will not be able to make it to Pate. It is always so hard to find someone to stay with my mother and also I still have lots of work to do to my truck to have it and my other stuff ready for the ATHS truck show and convention in South Bend IN. the last week of May. I will leaving Smithville on the 21 of may if all goes according to plan.

Lookin' good, Michelle! The only thing I don't like is the orange stripe in the door panel...I would have made it red. But, that is me. You have a winner, there!
I think I'll go to the "Spousal Avoidance Center" (workshop) for a while...

The orange stripe on the door panel is factory original. The orange stripe is also carried through on the seats, headliner and the borders on the sun visors.

Great looking truck! I dont envy your bill for filling those tanks once they are polished! My dad and I had a great time at the San Jose ATHS show last year and I recommend anyone in the area to make the trip as it is prolly one of the best vehicle shows that I have attended, the variety of vehicles and level of restoration is truly impressive! Have a safe run, my dad and I will hit either the 2012 or 2013 ATHS show!

Michelle your work on the LTL looks awesome. I have been watching this thread for a while and congratulate you for all the fine work. Makes a big difference on time when you can put a lot of it into your projects on a daily basis. Things sure go a lot faster. You keep me inspired to get busy. Hope to see it sometime soon. TR

I had hoped to have the LTL finished by now. I took it to Houston last week to get an oil lear repaired and have the overhead ran on it. I left Smithville last Tuesday morning and after a couple of errands I got the truck to the shop about two in the afternoon. It is still there. It would have been ready by Thursday morning had they not got hung up on some parts that are getting harder to find. Hopefully my parts will be there Monday morning and I can get it out of the shop by Monday afternoon. Then I will get the tanks and wheels polished and head back home with it. I have already made contact with the polishing guys and they have looked at it and even put the acid coat on the tanks prepping them for polishing. Meanwhile here is a picture of the engine work.
