New hobby, does anyone mountain bike?
abrasilian: experience on motorcycles will help....but it's not the same, and there WILL BE a learning curve:) I bought my first Mtn bike back in '93, rode it for a year, then stepped up & bought a GT. I'm still riding the GT!! I'm not super hard core, and put on more asphalt miles than off-road these days....but riding in the big city has it's risks too:):)
But Edmonton has one of the largest green belts running through it of almost any big city, and there is actually a lot of good single track right in the city:)
I regularly go out for 40-50km rides (thats about 25-31 miles)....but unless you were already in really good shape, or a runner, you won't be doing that right off the bat.....took several seasons to work up to that.....

Cool pics and vids man, I went riding today. We rode about 9 miles with up and down trails. I did a few lil jumps, and a couple of gnarly downhill.(gnarly for me). Richmond has very cool trails. I got a couple pics, not good ones though. I was too busy riding too.
This is about 20 minutes in, James River view

we rode this whole trail on both sides of the river. Rode by the bear habitat in Maymont park and Hollywood cemetery too.

buddy that was riding with me by the cemetery

Sweet bike. I didn't know GF was part of Trek now...
I ride a K2 Pro 80, bought it used in 98, no shocks, but everything else has been upgraded.
Has all Deore XT shifting components with V brakes, Mavic wheels, Controltech aheadset bar and bar ends, and a pair of clipless petals and shoes. I don't ride it near as much as I used to, south MS isn't to cycle friendly....

I clip in too. when I ride it isn't me and a bike...we become one. I kind of get in this zone and it is almost like my head is floating through the trees...it is a sweet fealing. I wish we had some better trails around here. I want to build some stunts in my yard to work out on. A high skinny bridge with a drop and a few whoop-de-dos and a table top jump. Thought about starting the bridge off the deck.

Yea, I didn't realize that GF was with Trek either. I think its cool though. Treks are good bikes without breaking the pocket. I saw bikes in the bike shop for $6,000.00!! Crazy!! I have a little trail near my parents house that I use to tear the go-kart through, only it needs to be cleared out. I need some volunteers and chainsaws. lol Just covinient for a quick trail ride and some jumps. I don't live with my parents btw, just close. LMAO
