61-66 core supports are all basically the same. The differences are in the,
battery tray
inner fender mounting holes
radiator brackets.
Depending on what's bad on your support and your fabrication/repair skills you can pretty easily modify one of the reproduction straight axle supports to work & look just fine.
The inner fenders are very different from the 61-64 & the 65-66.
You should be able to make a pair of inner fenders from 67-72 inners and your original ones - they are pretty similar except where the fender bolts to them. Remove and weld that section to the later inner fenders. If they are only rusted back by the hood hinge and they are 2wd there is a patch panel out there.
4x4 parts are very similar to straight axle pieces.
F 100 & F 250 2wd parts are the same.
Sorry that's the best I can do without pics or more information.

core support is rusted at the bottom and on the battery side (dont they all rust there?) inner fender is slightly bent from running into things

I was wanting to make new all of this and if i use the straight axle stuff what is the big deal - i am not restoring this for correctness i just want the fender and doors not to rub

the cabs are the same ??

I used the core support offered from either LMC Truck or Dennis Carpenter (I forget which one). Although the catalogue stated that it would fit, that was only partly true. Had to modify a tad and drill some different holes to install, but it turned out nice. My inner fenders weren't too bad, so I coated them with POR15 while waiting for the core support to arrive. I also bought a new battery tray and coated it as well.

I think yes, the 66 inners are 'square' even I believe on the 4 x 4 , but the clip will go onto your cab.
I have not seen under the hood of a 66 4x4 in over 30 years, but I think the 66 cab on the 4 x 4 is the same as the 65 and 66 2 wd [no step]
Brian,Hawk, factory, anyone else , PLEASE correct me if my memory is wrong.

alrighty then - keep my messed up inner fenders - cut and weld them to 67 inner fenders and buy a 61-64 core support and mount the battery in the bed - sounds about right?

You could repair yours for next to nothing if you got a mig welder and plenty of time and some sheetmetal. I just did mine and it came out half decent. Tom
