He will join the forum with many questions im sure, hopefully you guys can help him out and make him welcome.
He purchased this car sight unseen from Ebay, and was rewarded with a great rare car, and a truck load of Spare parts!
He has tracked down 3 of the previous owners, Car has been painted originally Purple, then red now blue.
Interestingly i was reading an article recently about cars with blank paint codes and it suggested that the blank paint code cars or special order , had 1 chrome side mirror installed in place of duel sports mirrors, due to the fact of how the sports mirrors where pre painted somewhere else and the assemlby guys refered to build sheet colour to match the mirrors to the car paint code.
This car has 1 chrome mirror on drivers side.
He is going to return it to the original color?
It's pretty cool - bet it looked good in it too.
Some of you are thinking "That's horrid" - you have to remember this was the 70s! The loud fast cars in the loud fast colors all fit together perfectly.
Two of my personal favorites were Grabber Green and Grabber Blue. Panther Pink & Limelight on a Mopar are right up there too.
1964 F 100 - I am going to do "something" with it.......
I know its brand X,
But my dad bought a 75 Corvette in the most gawd awful bright metallic green ..Corvette people used to swear it was not factory, but we never found any indication it had ever been repainted. I know the SECOND it was sold it was repainted brown.. I wonder how rare that color was ?
ADENDUM, just looked it up, there were just over 1600 made in the green, and only in 75..
That's funny. Lesley and I were just discussing how Panther Pink and Limelight green do NOT look good on the new Chargers, just this afternoon.
Hey Lance that colour ain't so bad http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-for ... miles.html
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..
I guess the paint now is kinda tired so the guy is trying to decide what to do.
I'd paint it original then buy a 2nd car, a 302 Chero, drop in a 460, paint it black with red yellow laser just so I could get that outta my system.
My friend Brian had a blue Fox SVO. It was factpry paint.
The car cause quite a stir on the SVO forums and a lot of guys really
bagged on my buddy.
He ended up selling the car cheap due to divorce and the guy who bought
it has a stable of those cars. Like 10 or 15. He proved the blue was a special
exec order. When my friend bought a new project white SVO a number of
the guys who were jerks to him have since sent him parts and apologies.
I heart that Phil. I used to hang around the Ford dealership EVERY saturday after my accordian lesson, from '69-73
I had 6 hours to kill and pored over those cars waiting for the bus.
I couldn't tell you the difference between a 70 and 71 Torino or Ranchero except that some had optional hide away headlights. Maybe the thumb pushes on the door handles were different between years or something, but the Cobras even used the same grille. I wasn't interested in anything that didn't have a shaker at the time.

70 had a round GT logo in the grill and was black (?) and the 5 chrome trim pieces on the rear 1/4 in front of the wheel arch.
71 had a "2 piece" grill in silver & argent with a rectangular GT logo and no 1/4 trim.
There are other small differences that I sure Phil knows.
I basically like the "clean" 1/4s & the 71 grill better myself.
