Slick Ink...

Post by Effie »

I finally got my gear and lightning bolt tattoo. Its been yeeeears I've been toting around this idea. Just couldn't pick a place or find the right time to do it. Well, now I've done it. I'll be Ford Forever.

I won't say it hurt...after dialysis and all the other shit I've endured in the hospital, to say this was painful would be silly. I had moments of being uncomfortable. Especially near the end where he kept going over the shaded part, I started to get restless and squirm.

So the word is Faith. I wanted it in Ford script, but he said it might not look right, so I said, at least make the "F" like in Ford.

Its bigger than I planned on, but a friend said, maybe you have more faith than you realize. I was like, wow, good point.

Anyhow, here it is....

I thought I was gonna write up a blog today, but being its on my forearm like it is, it's hard to type because I can't lay my arm down. I'll write something on it later.

Thank you for the compliments. :)

thenephilm -- This is my first tat so far. I have ideas for others possibly down the road, like the V8 on my other arm. Miami Burgess out of Pyscho Tattoo Douglasville, GA did the work. It cost me a pretty penny, but he comes highly recommended, he's a fantastic artist that studied under Deano Cook and has several awards and has been in several magazines. He paints and does other art, not just ink.

The first critizing remark I got told me I spent too much. But my thought on that is...a piece of art work that will be on your body for life is not something you want to "shop around" and go cheap on.

Miami is a car guy, he started out doing airbrushing and custom paint jobs. I wanted a car guy to do it because I wanted him to understand my love for this truck and what it means to me. He listened, he spent an hour with me drawing it and talking about it and made sure it was what I wanted.

I've been pushed aside and placed "second" to so many people, the fact that he made me feel as important as anybody else he's done, even with his "fame" was worth the money alone.

So this wasn't some butterfly or unicorn tattoo'd over my ass crack. This is something very personal to me, my anchor to remind me where I've been and where I'm going. And I wanted it done right at any cost.

Riverside Racer --- I love that! It's perfect to describe Faith. My sister has been having a hard time with alot of family illness and such we've had going on the last couple months and I keep telling her, you've just got to have Faith. Either, everything is gonna fall to pieces and God will carry you through it...or everything will work out fine. Either way, you gotta have faith and you'll survive it.

The gear and lightning bolt was always my original intent, but last week sometime, I was laying in bed and it hit me....to do the word Faith with the Ford script. Excellent.

I love it. Just getting used to it though and I'm scared to death I'm gonna mess it up by not taking care of it, but so far, so good.

Pretty cool there! Never wanted a tattoo myself but have always admired the work on others. If they weren't permanent, I'd have a different one every week.

I too have been pushing that idea around for ages... Good work, it looks good. (I was thinking forearms, but I'm most likely gonna stay in /2 sleeves, for professional purposes etc etc.)

Here is one of mine. I like tattoos a little bit. Actually got mine in Atlnat by a guy named Chris at Liberty tattoo. I know of psycho tattoo. my friends girlfriend goes there. Im pretty loyal to my guy and they are car guys too. I like black and white and more traditional old tats. I have some on my front forewarms inside arms and so on. Not to get real nasty but I actually do have one on my ass that says MADE IN THE USA...not joking either. hahaha im an army vet and i alwayys said i would get one that said that on my ass.

The one on my left back arm is a soldiers burial of my buddy from the army...my favorite

Ya know, I thought about that, but why pay for something you can't show off? Its a piece of art, it needs to be appreciated, lol.

Plus it was more for me and something *I* wanted to be able to see.

I kinda figure I'll always be in the Ford parts business, and if I pursue anything else, it'll be my writing, maybe even for a car magazine. And I figure, I can always just wear long sleeves.

Thanks again for all the compliments. :)
