'65/'66 Hood rubber bumper locations?

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

'65/'66 Hood rubber bumper locations?

Post by BarnieTrk »

Fellas/Gals,

I'm looking for some direction on where to place the 3 or 4 round rubber bumpers between the top of the fenders and radiator support and the hood lip.
Does anyone have a good pic of where they were OEM-located?
Measurements would be even better! :thumright:

I believe the earlier Slicks had oblong push-in rubber bumpers; with two on each fender lip and two on the radiator support for a total of six bumpers.
Where as the later '65/'66 Slicks had only 3 taller, round, screw in the center-type rubber bumpers. There was one located on each front fender about 5" back from the front edge and a single bumper (right or left?) of center on the radiator support. :dontknow:

Any pics, help and guidance would be very appreciated!

Thanks in Advance, Guys!

I have two about 5 inches back on the top of the fender. There is nothing left of them but a rubber covered screw. I can get a pic with measurements if you like.

Thanks for the reply & input, 65Crew....

You don't have any on the radiator support?

good2bea9,
Thanks!
I went to your profile, then to your album, then your personal gallery, and on the 2nd page, pic# 2843, I can see the LH side fender bumper and a front bumper located just to the left of the hood latch on the radiator support. From my review, this is the only pic in your collection that depicted the location of some of the hood rubber bumpers.

1) Is there only the one bumper on the front radiator support - or is there also a second bumper located similarly to the right of the hood latch too? :?:

2) Am I correct to assume that the RH fender has a bumper located towards the front of the fender in a similar location as the bumper located on the LH fender? :?:

3) Does each fender only have the one bumper or is there a second bumper towards the rear of the front fender, near the hinge area? :?:

Thanks again for all your help & assistance! :notworthy:

There is only one on each fender and only one to the side of the latch on the front. I found that quite interesting when I was attaching mine too, I wanted to add more. Glad to have helped out.
