Re: I could use some help.

Thinking about updating the distributor and carb. I was wondering if a distributor and carb, from a '79 300 engine, would fit in the '66 240. Has anyone tried this swap? Anyone have any other recommendations? thanks Okay I got the distributor and carb. The distributor is an exact drop-in as far as ...

Re: Sounds, toones, you know... music.

Looking forward to some ideas also.

My 66 has no dash cut out for a radio. So I guess I'll have to fab up something.

Re: I could use some help.

they will fit, that is bolt up. the distributor will be of the duraspark type and require some wiring mods, not difficult. not sure what carb was being used on the 79 300 clifford intake with 2v carb and headers is the best way to get more out of a 240/300 http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/ff322/a...

Re: I could use some help.

The SCV does provide manifold vacuum from under the throttle plates and also a port above the plates it provides carb vacuum. There is a check valve/ball internal to the carb that moves to provide the appropriate source of vacuum to the distributor. It is a delta vacuum though and is only a couple ...

Re: I could use some help.

Another reason I am asking is because My son also has a '66 truck, with a 240 and a Load-o-matic distributor. But he has the carb with the SCV on it. I have not been able to get it to run properly. It will start and idle just fine, It will also accelerate from an idle okay. But from a cruising speed...

I could use some help.

I have searched this forum and other forums on this subject. I have found a lot of info on this here and there. This relates to the 1966, 240, 6 cylinders, the carbs with the Spark Control Valve and the Load-o-matic distributors. My understanding these Load-o-matic distributors will not work with a ...
