My '65 had very little paint on it and a lot of rust. When I finished wire brushing and sanding the frame with a DA, I still could easily see the factory stampings. My suspicion is you should be able to make them out, especially the stamping just ahead of the rear cab mount on the top of the passeng...

What the devil did he do. It looks like he cut the king pin end off and welded on an extension to raise the wheel.

Check this site's classifieds for a Standard cab instrument cluster, or eBay. I think Iceman stated in a post that all the Standard cab instrument bezels are plated whether Ford painted over them or not. I don't know as my parts are all '65 '66 Custom Cab units.

Willy,

It's a minor point, but the '64 will fit, but has a 1" taller roof which is incorrect. I also think the earlier cab roof line looks better. The FORD letters in the grille is 1961 only.

POR15

I have a friend in the local VW club who used POR 15 on his Kharmann Ghia floor pan when he restored it over 10 years ago. He claims it is still shiny black, no rust. I made the mistake of using the POR 15 semi-gloss black. DO NOT DO THIS!!!! While the gloss black smooths out very well and hides the...

Jeff,

I believe the '73-'79 wheelbase is 6 inches longer than the '66 F-250.

Lowell, I believe the jack mounted on one of the inner fenders, but I'm not sure where. My '79 had all the parts under the hood. If I remember correctly, the jack and lug wrench sat on the drivers inner fender and the jack crank was clipped in front of the radiator. My two slicks that I have don't h...

Also, to reply to the original post between '65 and '66 trucks. If the '65 truck is early production, I think the following apply: gas pedal is mounted to the floor, not suspended sun visors are cardboard unless the "safety option package" is ordered The following apply to all '65s I think...

Tom,

Not to throw gasoline on the fire, but in New York, new school buses have seat belts. I don't know when they started mandating it.
